Manager, Facilities Maintenance & Plant Operations

 

The Manager, Facilities Maintenance and Plant Operations is responsible for overseeing the daily operational management of the designed physical plant and buildings owned by Lake of the Woods District Hospital in a manner consistent with industry best practices ensuring a safe and reliable environment for the delivery of healthcare-related services. The Manager provides leadership to and coordinates the activities of the Maintenance Departments. Working within the Organization’s mission, vision and values, the Manager works closely with senior leadership in the strategic development/redevelopment of organizational facilities.

Qualifications:

 

  • Diploma or certificate level training in an engineering/technical field
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in facility management and plant operations preferably in a healthcare setting
  • Demonstrated experience in the recruitment, retention and supervision of employees in a unionized environment is preferred, including scheduling, work assignment, accountability, and evaluation and performance management
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of building systems, operations and maintenance practices in a complex, multi-site organization
  • Demonstrated understanding of the capital planning processes, in depth understanding of building condition assessments as well as long and short term capital planning and renewal processes consistent with Ministry policies relative to a hospital environment
  • Demonstrated experience in capital construction projects including contract administration, inspections, monitoring budgets and schedules, issuing change orders and preparing project documentation
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act, Ontario Building, Fire, and Plumbing Codes, ESA, CSA Z8000 and TSSA Standards and all other applicable regulations, standards and codes related to infection prevention and control standards as related to hospitals
  • Proven initiative, judgment, decision-making and problem solving capabilities
  • Demonstrated ability to take action in a crisis management environment
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain rapport with staff and other stakeholders in order to effectively lead and coach team members
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member
  • Advanced knowledge of Building Automation Systems and Computerized Maintenance Management System
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position
