Benefits Overview

  • Relocation Assistance – Up to $2,500 for eligible moving expenses (e.g., moving trucks, movers, packing materials, storage, or travel costs such as gas, hotel, and meals), subject to policy guidelines. A 2-year return-of-service agreement applies.
  • Accommodation Support – Up to 3 months of housing assistance in the community, with rental agreements and receipts required. Alternative arrangements may be available for those purchasing a home. A 2-year return-of-service agreement applies.
  • Paid Vacation – Start with 3 weeks of vacation under most full-time benefit packages. For Non-Union and CUPE 3634 employees, vacation is front-loaded at the beginning of employment. Casual and part-time staff receive a percentage in lieu of vacation.
  • Pension Plan – Membership at any employment status in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP), one of Canada’s top defined-benefit pension plans. For every $1.00 you contribute, the hospital contributes $1.26. The standard contribution rate is 6.9% of earnings.
  • Insurance & Disability CoverageDesjardins Group Life Insurance plus short- and long-term disability coverage. Basic life insurance is provided at no cost to employees, with optional voluntary coverage available.
  • Sick Leave – A tiered sick-leave plan is available after 90 days of employment, providing generous coverage.
  • Greenshield Extended Health & Dental BenefitsGreenshield coverage for full-time positions includes vision care, prescriptions, dental, hospital accommodation, and extended health services (e.g., massage, chiropractor, medical equipment, and more). Plan details may vary by position. Premiums are shared: the hospital covers 75%, and employees contribute 25%. Casual and part-time staff receive a percentage in lieu of benefits.
  • Workplace Wellness & Community – Enjoy a supportive and engaging work culture through our Sunshine Club and Wellness Committee, which offer initiatives such as free staff meals, family events, wellness activities, and community-building opportunities.
  • Sunshine Club: The Sunshine Club is a staff funds program which hospital staff and professional staff financially contribute to.  The Sunshine Club committee is a small group of kind volunteers who use those funds to coordinate fun events, treats, bereavement condolences and retirement gifts. The overall goal of this group is to encourage camaraderie, a sense of community and added joy in our work days.
  • Wellness Committee: The LWDH Wellness Committee purpose is to promote a culture of Mental, Physical, Emotional and Spiritual well-being by coordinating activities and providing support that will result in a healthier workplace and in healthier lifestyles.   Members of this committee offer their time and dedication in addition to their working  commitments in order to contribute to the health and wellness of staff.
